Horned Frog Baseball Against ULM

The TCU Horned Frogs have had a phenomenal season by achieving a 34-12 overall record and 16-5 in the conference. After dropping a series to Texas and being ranked No. 3 prior, the team has stayed in the top 10 by currently being ranked No. 6 in the nation. Eyes forward, the next series on the schedule is TCU baseball against ULM.

The team plays the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) at home in Charlie and Marie Lupton Baseball Stadium. While TCU may be a top-tier program this year, ULM is having somewhat of a struggling season. The Warhawks are currently sitting at .500 in the win/loss column at 22-22 overall.

ULM Series

The ULM series begins on Friday, May 14th at 6:30 pm, then continues on Saturday, May 15th at 4 pm, and Sunday, May 16th at 1 pm. The Horned Frogs will then play a midweek series against Texas State before finishing up their Big 12 series play at Kansas State.

The Warhawks only have four players with a batting average above .300 for the season. With a strong batting core, the Warhawks will have to be held at bay with an aggressive and consistent pitching routine. Two players, in particular, to keep an eye on are Travis Washburn and Grant Schulz, who lead the Warhawks in batting.

Travis Washburn is a sophomore from Conroe, Texas and currently leads the team when at-bat. Before playing at ULM the sophomore also played at Navarro College for two years prior. In his two seasons at Navarro, he had several impressive performances. Now at ULM, Washburn has played in 39 games and started 35 of them. He has been at bat 135 times in the games and has a slugging percentage of .459. With exceptional batting, recording a .333 batting average, and consistent play in the infield, Washburn has the potential to cause a lot of problems for the TCU Horned Frogs.

Grant Schulz is a junior from Meraux, Louisiana, and before playing at ULM played two seasons at Delgado Community College. In his two years playing at Delgado CC, Schulz had several impressive performances before transferring to ULM. Schulz has played in 34 games and started 27 to achieve a .333 batting average and a .521 slug percentage. Schulz is also exceptional at batting, has speed from playing the infield, and could also very well be a problem for the TCU Hornedfrogs.

Overview

Overall, the TCU Horned Frogs take on the University of Louisiana at Monroe Warhawks in a non-conference, three-game series for its last scheduled home series in Lupton Stadium. The series is scheduled to start Friday, May 14th at 6:30 pm. Then continues on Saturday, May 15th at 4 pm. Followed by the series finale on Sunday, May 16th at 1 pm. After dropping a crucial series to Texas last weekend, the upcoming series is a must-win. Mostly for the Frog’s mental game as they close out the Big 12 regular season and head into the conference tournament. So make sure to tune in or cheer them on in person if you have the chance for the upcoming TCU baseball series against ULM.
