Frog Football Starts Season Hot vs. Duquesne

Frog Football vs. Duquesne met on week 1 of the 2021 season Saturday, September 4th, in Fort Worth, Texas, at Amon G. Carter Stadium. After a successful prior season, the Horned Frogs would look to carry momentum into the new season with a dominant win against Duquesne.

First Half

Firstly, after a long offseason, the TCU Horned Frogs would waste no time getting points on the board. In the first drive, the Horned Frogs would go 13 plays for 90-yards to get the game’s first points. TCU would also get into the endzone on their next two drives to make them three for three on the first three drives. At the end of the first quarter, TCU would already have a dominant 21-0 lead.

Fast forward to the second quarter; the Horned Frogs would continue to pile on the points. With another 14 points added onto the board in the second quarter alone, TCU would head into the half with a 35-0 lead.

Second Half

After a dominant first half, both coaches would agree upon shortening both quarters in the half to 12 minutes from 15 minutes. Now with a majority of the first-string starters being rotated, this would give Duquesne a chance to get some points on the board. These points would come from a field goal after the Duke’s march down the field to get a 26-yard field goal. Now with three points, TCU would respond with an 18-yard field goal of their own.

Subsequently with the third quarter in the books, the Horned Frogs would head into the fourth with a 38-3 lead. To top the game off, TCU would get some second and third-string players on the field, which is not to be taken lightly in college football. The team in the fourth would score once more to finish the game to win 45-3 and start their season off 1-0.

Notable Players

Matthew Downing is one of the players who had an exceptional performance for the Horned Frogs while the team dominated. Downing got in on the action by throwing for three completions for 26 yards.

The starting quarterback for the Horned Frogs also had a great game. Max Duggan would throw for 14 completions for 207 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Look for Duggan to lead the team throughout the season, as he will be returning off a good season from last year.

Similarly, in the QB position to watch out for is Chandler Morris. Morris threw one completion for 20 yards and one touchdown to help the Frogs keep their already demanding lead.

Overview of Frog Football vs. Duquesne

Overall, Frog football vs. Duguesne was nothing short of a dominant week one with a 45-3 win. Now with a 1-0 record, the team will return to Amon G. Carter tomorrow in Fort Worth, Texas, to take on the University of California Golden Bears. With a more formidable opponent, look for the Horned Frogs to have their hands full when they play on Saturday, September 11th at 2:30 pm.
