TCU Football vs Texas Tech Saturday in Fort Worth

TCU football vs. Texas Tech has a unique spin on the college football rivalry by competing for the Saddle Trophy. This tradition dated back from 1961 to 1970 and was abandoned for years until its renewal in 2017.

The Horned Frogs will look to even up their record if they could defeat Texas Tech in what will be their first back to back win of the season. TCU will host Texas Tech Saturday as the fight for the possession of the Saddle Trophy.

TCU football vs. Texas Tech first began in 1926, with TCU defeating Texas Tech 28-16. Since then, Texas Tech has been able to get the best of TCU, with the record between the two being 33-27-3.

TCU vs. Baylor

The Horned Frogs were able to hold off Baylor on Halloween in a 33-23 win. The Frogs excelled in the rushing game with 247 yards combined, led by freshman running backs Darwin Barlow, who had the 74-yard run, and Zach Evans, who had 81 rushing yards with only seven carries. Both freshman running backs were able to get in the end zone against the Baylor Bears.

Texas Tech 2020 Stats

Texas Tech is coming off a significant blowout loss to Oklahoma, losing 62-28. The Sooners offensive had their way with the Red Raiders, and their defense was able to force the Red Raiders to turn the ball over three times.
Texas Tech has given up 41.2 points per game, which ranks in the nation’s bottom 10. Their defense has also given up 2,035 passing yards, ranked No. 4 at the bottom of all college football. To add more context to that stat, the other three teams have all played one or two more games than Texas Tech. As far as total yards, Texas Tech has given up 2,993 yards this season, which is also ranked No. 11 in the nation’s bottom half. These stats say their defense has been worse than terrible this season, and quarterback Max Duggan should be able to have his way against them.

Texas Tech’s offense is led by quarterback Henry Colombi who just won the starting job as QB1 in week eight of the season. Next to him, running back Sarodorick Thompson, who has shown some flashes of being elite, is very inconsistent. Thompson has had two 100-yard games but three games with less than 50 yards.

Texas Tech has had some troubles on the road this season, not getting a single road victory yet. On the other end, TCU has had some problems defending their home field, losing every game at home this season so far. By the time the score clock ends, the streak will be broken for one team.

Coach Patterson 200 Wins

Coach Patterson started at TCU as a defensive coordinator back in 1998. He took over the head coaching job in 2000. He has been the second-longest head coach tenured in the nation. With a win against Texas Tech, Coach Gary Patterson will have put 200 wins with TCU on his coaching resume.
