TCU Baseball Five Game Win Streak

Horned Frog Baseball is on a 5-game win streak after beating Tarleton State, sweeping Oklahoma State, and defeating UT Arlington. TCU is looking to continue that streak this weekend against the Kansas Jayhawks in Fort Worth.

Horned Frog Baseball Sweeps OSU

This sweep was a little surprising because Oklahoma State plays in such a way that counters TCU’s slow methodic approach. The Horned Frog pitching did an excellent job keeping the typically explosive OSU bats under ten runs all three games.

Charles King improved his record to 5-1 in the third game making him one of the best pitchers for the Frogs. His 3.90 ERA isn’t very impressive, but he makes up for it by allowing the fewest hits for the number of games played. He and Russell Smith have the best records; Smith is currently undefeated and sports a 3.23 ERA.

TCU vs. Kansas Baseball

The pitching will need to keep form, though, as TCU has the Kansas Jayhawks coming to Fort Worth. While not quite the same caliber as the top dogs in the Big 12, Kansas does need to be respected. The Jayhawks have a record of 21-15 and have been wildly inconsistent. One second, they are beating Air Force 13-3, and the next, they are getting hammered by Baylor 8-2. Kansas lives and dies by the blowout. Unluckily for them, this plays right into TCU’s hand.

The Frogs remain consistent, usually scoring about 7-11 runs per game and keeping opponents behind. While you would like to see them win more comfortably rather than nearly blowing games, there is no doubt that they have been excellent in close games. TCU has improved to win 16-18 of their last games, with both losses coming on the road in Lubbock. I trust them to keep their winning ways alive against the Jayhawks and get the impressive sweep. A sweep would bring TCU to 30-9 and easily in the conversation for the Big 12 title race alongside UT and Texas Tech. With only a month left in the regular season, they’re getting hot at the right time.
