TCU Against Iowa State

During this game, we saw Yazmeen Ryan score her 10th game-winning goal. This goal was also her 53rd career point, which ranks her 7th in TCU all-time history. Emily Alvarado saw her 16th career shutout making this TCU’s 3rd straight shutout. This record is the first time in program history that TCU has opened its season with three consecutive shutout games. On top of those performances, this was also the third game where we saw freshman Marz Akins play the match’s entirety.

TCU Fall Season Overview

TCU is currently ranked #12 in the nation after taking on the Baylor Bears and Texas Longhorns in their first two matches. When taking on the Baylor Bears, they held them to zero points, even after going into double overtime. The Bears matched the Horned frog’s effort by keeping them off the scoreboard as well, leaving the match a tie. Against the Bears, the Frogs let off 26 shots, but none were any good. In return, goalkeeper Emily Alvarado made four saves and added to her shutout record. During this game, the team also debuted 4 of their newcomers and showed off the new talent.

The following week the Frogs took on the Texas Longhorns and had a 3-0 win with one goal in the first half and two during the second. Texas let off 20 shots with five on goal, making this goalkeeper, Emily Alvarado’s 15th shutout in her career.

Preview of TCU Fall 2020 Season

The Frogs used their last game to show they can dominate and are improving with each game. If the team can keep the momentum going, this could mean great things for the season. They have a chance to continue their undefeated streak with their game Friday night and raise their ranking in the nation. The Frogs look to be trying for another NCAA Tournament appearance in the spring.

This week TCU will be taking on #4 Oklahoma State who is also undefeated. The undefeated match-up makes for an exciting game because this could mean that one team will walk away defeated, or resulting in both team’s second tie for the season
